We are a small lifestyle brand and tight-knit community that cherishes the blank spaces in life.

NLC was founded by a woman with roots in Japan.
After graduating from high school, she moved to this beautiful rainy city.
She graduated from the University of Washington
and then pursued a career as a freelance social media marketer 👩💻

During this time, she noticed that society is often filled with a pressure to constantly chase something and keep moving for the illusion of success.
Literally living through and surviving the culture, she came across a book that discussed how people once lived with leisure and how philosophers thought about it.

Back in 19th-20th century Europe, being lazy and doing nothing were considered noble pursuits, while hustling was often disregarded,
unlike in our modern society.

(the concept of leisure class had good and bad, and we will just take the “good” part here)
This concept was very eye-opening to her, and she started to think,
“Maybe it’s time to stop underestimating the power of leisure and
start rethinking how we integrate the quality of 'nothingness' into our lives.”

This is a quiet and noble rebellion against the hustle culture of modern times, where effort and accomplishments are overly glorified.

This was the moment that NLC was born, with the hope that leisure and idleness would once again be accepted as noble pursuits in our society.
